For years, I wore the "good girl" mask like a second skin. I excelled in my career, always went the extra mile, and never rocked the boat. But deep down, a nagging voice kept whispering that something was missing. Boardroom battles and billable hours felt like a soul-sucking grind, a far cry from the life I truly craved.

Modern life, with its constant demands and digital distractions, can easily sever our connection to both the earth and our innermost selves.

This disconnection can manifest as a deep sense of disembodiment - a feeling of being trapped in your own head, unable to truly connect with your emotions or the world around you.

Back in 2016, I was working in a job that was toxic AF! Two years before, this had been my dream job. I felt I had a purpose and I was doing something that could actually make a difference…before I realised I was caught up in corporate bureaucracy and politics.

I couldn't recognise myself in the mirror. The drive to work was a soul-sucking commute, and the people I worked with... well, let's just say they weren't exactly the dream team. Let's just say they made the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills look like a serene gathering of enlightened monks at a mountain retreat.

Embodiment is not about perfection. It's about radical authenticity, about owning every scar, every curve, every tremor that makes us uniquely beautiful. It's about shedding the masks and stepping into the raw, unfiltered power of our being. It's about feeling everything, the ecstasy and the ache, the whispers of possibility and the roar of defiance.

So why is it that so many successful, smart, strong women are fuelled by self-doubt, guilt, anxiety and shame? It's a complex question with a multitude of intersectional answers including the impacts of colonialism, the patriarchy, and capitalism. All of these have contributed to, and continue to fuel, the Witch Wound within our collective psyche as women.

Are you really burned out, or are you just spiritually depleted? Many of us are feeling lost and disconnected. We're caught in a cycle of endless to-do lists and obligations. In our hectic modern world that prioritises hustle, many have forgotten how to connect with their inner selves and sense of purpose.

The word ‘Witch’ has been making a revival in pop culture. ‘WitchTok’ is as hot a topic as TayTay’s love-life and more and more people jumping on the #witchaesthetic bandwagon. It’s mystical, beautiful, empowering, magical…so I understand the draw. To me, however, reclaiming the Witch’ isn’t a trend to jump on and off like a fad diet.

As a woman, and more so as a woman of colour, I’ve always felt like I had to prove myself to earn the right to be in the board room or at any decision-making table. I’d work twice as hard, stay longer, take on more responsibility - only to be overlooked or undervalued. And so I’d knuckle down and “work harder”. And all that ever led to was burnout, resentment and dissatisfaction.

Do you ever feel like there aren't enough hours in the day to get everything done? Do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed and stressed out, constantly running from one task to the next? I've been there, and I know just how exhausting it can be.

Burnout is a nasty business. It sucks the life out of even the most passionate purpose-driven entrepreneur.

How many times have you felt guilty for taking some time out to rest and relax? Yup, we see you honey. It's tough not to feel like you should be tackling your to-do list instead of taking some much-needed "me time". And let's face it, it's even harder when the dirty dishes are staring you down and all you want is a glass of wine and Outlander's Jamie Fraser shirtless on repeat. But guess what? It's time to shake off that guilt and embrace the power of rest.
